Welcome to ESOL!
English Speakers of Other Languages is for EVERYONE!  Students in ESOL need a little extra support with learning English to help them become a better reading/writing and/or math student.

I am excited to work with your child this year to help him/her SOAR at Altama improving English language skills, including reading and/or math skills.  I look forward to a great year! If you need anything, please don't hesitate to contact me. E-mail is the easiest way to contact me since I am part-time and I will also be working with students; therefore, phone contact may be difficult.  I will reply to your email as soon as I am able.

Parents, we are partners!

Studies have shown that family engagement is the number one factor in student academic success.  I look forward to teaching your child this year as a partner with you and your child's homeroom teacher as we work together toward your child's academic success.

Please encourage your child to READ, Read, read, and take some time to read with your child every day to promote a love of reading for pleasure. "Readers are leaders" and it's never too early to start your child developing a great reading habit.

Please check the "Websites for Learning" for fun Reading and Math games and activities as well as some Zoo Web Cams to make Science Observations online!!

Also, check out the Glynn County Schools webpage for parent resources.

ABOUT ME!

I taught at Glyndale Elementary School from January 2003 until I retired in December 2017.  I began teaching at Glyndale in 1st grade, but also taught Kindergarten, ESOL (K-5), and special education students.  I have a Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University (now Georgia Southern), certified K-5.  I also have an endorsement added to my degree in both Reading and ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages).

I was contacted in the fall of 2018 to become an Altama Eagle in the Eagle's Nest.  (I attended Altama Elementary in 5th grade, so I've returned "home".)

I have a 32 year old son who graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University in December 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and continued his education in pursuit of both a Master's of Public Administration graduated (December 2017) and a Master's of Strategic Communication (graduated May 2019) from Troy University. I  raised a life-long learner!   He was the Assistant Park Manager and Park Manager at High Falls State Park in Jackson, GA, prior to returning to Glynn County to work in the Coastal Resources Division of the DNR in September 2019.
